12 x 12: Raw Talent 2010 Vancouver Photo Marathon

November 1 - December 5

Vancouver Lookout - Armstrong Gallery

For 12 hours on a cold and rainy September Sunday, 60 resilient photographers braved the elements to capture their interpretations of 12 randomly drawn themes with only 12 exposures of 35mm film. On October 16th, over 700 untouched photos were displayed and prizes awarded to the best prints as adjudicated by an esteemed panel of judges that included ET Canada’s Erin Cebula, Vancouver Photo Workshops director Marc Koegel, the dynamic duo of Adam & Kev from Adam & Kev Photography, and 12x12 committee member John Biehler. What you now see on the walls of the Vancouver Lookout are the results of the 2nd annual 12x12 Vancouver Photo Marathon, an annual community-building not-for-profit creative challenge that celebrates the art of film photography. We hope you enjoy the exhibit!

Anna Beaudry - Photographer

Celebration of Elevation - September 22 - October 31

Vancouver Lookout - Armstrong Gallery

“I have been seduced by the infinite qualities of light my entire life, continually creating visual recordings with my eyes. Back in my youth before I owned a camera, this was an obsession; observing the way light unwraps shapes, patterns and textures. Driven to share my vision with others, a camera became the most natural medium to engage the light with. This is where my vocation began. 28 years ago.

It can be a sparkling tungsten glow or the drinkable blue of a twilight sky, or the clean wash of a north facing window or the warm slant of a lazy sun. It all dazzles me beyond words and inspires me to reflect the beauty around us.

The pieces showcased in this gallery are my tribute to the glory of Vancouver, a toast to the unrivalled Pacific light and an expression of my gratitude for this amazing community.”
