Anna Beaudry - Celebration of Elevation

“I have been seduced by the infinite qualities of light my entire life, continually creating visual recordings with my eyes. Back in my youth before I owned a camera, this was an obsession; observing the way light unwraps shapes, patterns and textures. Driven to share my vision with others, a camera became the most natural medium to engage the light with. This is where my vocation began. 28 years ago.

It can be a sparkling tungsten glow or the drinkable blue of a twilight sky, or the clean wash of a north facing window or the warm slant of a lazy sun. It all dazzles me beyond words and inspires me to reflect the beauty around us.

The pieces showcased in this gallery are my tribute to the glory of Vancouver, a toast to the unrivalled Pacific light and an expression of my gratitude for this amazing community.”

12x12 - The Vancouver Photo Marathon
What would you take a picture of if given the theme "Nosy" and a single exposure? Sixty snap-happy locals faced that challenge, in addition to eleven other ones at the inaugural 12x12 Vancouver Photo Marathon. Equipped with nothing but a 35mm camera and a marked roll of film with exactly 12 exposures, marathoners were given one randomly drawn theme at the top of every hour for 12 consecutive hours. Themes were as varied and broad as the imagination and marathoners were given carte blanche to interpret them as they wished.
(please scroll down)

Negatives were developed and judged, the results of which were revealed in a grand gala exhibit at the Vancouver Photo Workshops. Entitled "Raw Talent," over 600 photos were showcased in their original form without any retouches or other photo enhancements. What you now see on the gallery walls of the Vancouver Lookout are the winning entries.

Without the instant preview and delete button that we've become so accustomed to in this digital age we live in, we wonder: Do you remember how to take a good photo? There's only one way to find out, and it's a fun one!
